American Jewish History is the official publication of the American Jewish Historical Society, the oldest national ethnic historical organization in the United States. The most widely recognized journal in its field, AJH focuses on every aspect of the American Jewish experience. Founded in 1892 as Publications of the American Jewish Historical Society (PAJHS), it was later published as American Jewish Historical Quarterly (AJHQ) and is currently titled American Jewish History (AJH).
AJH has been the journal of record in American Jewish history for over a century, bringing readers all the richness and complexity of Jewish life in America through carefully researched accessible articles. The journal is published quarterly in January, April, July, and October by Johns Hopkins University Press.
AJHS is pleased to announce that all publications are now online for users. However, only some yearly volumes are available for free to the public. All articles from 1893-2016 and beyond are available for users outside of the facilities of the American Jewish Historical Society or the Center for Jewish History with a subscription to JSTOR.
All members of the AJHS Academic Council receive a copy of American Jewish History. To become a member or renew please visit our Academic Council page.
