Julie Salamon (Author and Journalist) sat down with Adam Nagourney, national political reporter for The New York Times and author of the book The Times. His latest book, The Times: How the Newspaper of Record Survived Scandal, Scorn, and the Transformation of Journalism is a behind-the-scenes look at the papers contemporary history and the pivotal years that shaped it into the business that it is today. Adam discussed his process of researching and writing the book, his effort to report both the imperfections as well as what makes it such a vital organization for providing information and contributing to the national discourse. Adam shared his personal experience of working at the paper and the significant changes to journalism that he has observed over his career. Adam spoke about his Jewish identity and how it informs his values and the way he understands people.
