Julie Salamon (New York Times best-selling author) sits down with Sally Fischer, Founder and President of Sally Fischer Public Relations based in New York City. She began SFPR in 1990 with a small client base and the idea of creating a very distinct image and strategy for each client, with the idea and feeling of being the in-house PR. Today SFPR is retained by more than 20 clients, and over the years has worked in areas as diverse as film & fashion, entertainment, food and wine, fundraising, travel & hospitality, publishing, art, design & culture, and special events.

A native New Yorker, Fischer moved to Florence, Italy as a teenager where she completed high school and college. Returning to New York, she continued to work with Italian companies such as RAI TV, Rizzoli Books and Benetton North America, where she held the position of Vice President of Public Relations. Clients of Sally Fischer Public Relations have included: The Bauer Hotels in Venice, Trudie Styler and Sting’s Il Palagio in Tuscany, Umbra Design, Jeremy Irons (who won Academy Award, Best Actor 1990!), David Rockwell of Rockwell Group, Cinecittà, Alessandra Ferri, the city of Torino and the Winter Olympics of 2006 in Torino, Acqua di Parma, Fernando Napolitano and the Italian Business Summit, Baglietto Yachts, Gelato Festival, and much more. English is her native language, and she is also fluent in Italian. In 2018, Sally Fischer was awarded the distinguished Italian decoration: Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia by the President of the Republic of Italy, the Honorable Sergio Mattarella. Sally Fischer resides in Manhattan with her husband Elliott and son Jack who both studied Italian and enjoy traveling to Italy as much as Fischer does.
