On October 27th Julie Salamon sat down with William Neuman, journalist, and author of, “Things Are Never So Bad They Can’t Get Worse: Inside the Collapse of Venezuela.”
A New York Times reporter for over 15 years, William served as the NYT Andes Region Bureau Chief from 2012 to 2016. He sat down with us to discuss the political and economic events in Venezuela which caused many to flee; his personal observations regarding how the country has changed over the past 15 years; and the people he connected with during his time in Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela. He also shared personal stories about his father’s experience as a Jewish refugee, and the current refugee situation in New York and the United States.
