This Sukkot, the American Jewish Historical Society honors the Weiler-Arnow archive, by telling its inspiring story at our virtual gala. In 1972, Jack Weiler, real estate developer and philanthropist opened the Grace Building on 42nd Street. That fall, he opened his Sukkah in the Sky, creating a space for  politicians, real estate developers and lay leaders to form community.

At a time of deep questioning in our country, we find uplift in tracing the ways this family, and other American Jews, have stood up and are standing up to promote important causes. Circumstances in 2020 do not allow us to crowd together in a sukkah, but all the more so, we need the stories that inspire us to build community and do good work.

Sukkot is a time of reflection and rejoicing, and we invite you to join us as we engage in history, share family stories,  and also partake in the Sukkah in the Sky tradition of bagels-and-lox, prepared by our 2019 honoree, Russ & Daughters, and shipped directly to you and your guests.
